nanoloop for Game Boy

Nanoloop for Game Boy is a sequencer / synthesizer cartridge for Game Boy consoles. It allows to create electronic music without further hardware, using headphones or external speakers for sound output.
The idea of nanoloop is to simplify the stepsequencer concept as far as possible while keeping the gamesome, yet addictve character of loop-based music creation. The minimalistic graphical user interface was specifically developed for the Game Boy's small screen and has been optimized for keypad operation. Despite the simple design and usage, it provides access to the raw sound synthesis components and allows to create complex musical structures.
Nanoloop for Game Boy comes on custom cartridges, designed specifically for the needs of nanoloop, with robust and secure flash memory for data storage and, in case of ver 1.5, an extra oscillator for additional sounds.
Version 1.5 for the original Game Boy models (including DMG, GBP, GBC, GBA, GBA SP) is the direct successor of the first nanoloop version released in 1999. It uses the console's simple built-in sound-generators, resulting in the typical rough and clear bleeps & noises as known from video games of the 8-bit era.
Version 2.3 for Game Boy Advance (including GBA, GBA SP, GB micro, DS, DS lite) extends this basic set through a custom software-synthesizer with filters, FM-synthesis and polyphony, allowing for more smooth tones as well as more noisy ones. Version 2.3 also provides some additional convenient functions and has more memory.
